The Railway Children
“They were not railway children to begin with.”
Shenley Productions will be staging Paul Burton’s new adaptation of E. Nesbit‘s The Railway Children in the style of a radio play. The cast will perform at microphones, and the imaginative storytelling will be enhanced with sound effects and music.
The much-loved story concerns a family, including the children Roberta (nicknamed Bobbie), Peter and Phyllis, who move from London to the Three Chimneys, a house near a railway, in Yorkshire, after the father, who works at the Foreign Office, is imprisoned after being accused of spying.
