Have you ever longed to be someone else? Someone confident? With the dream job? And the perfect friends?
If being yourself wasn’t enough, what lengths would you go to, to get what you want?
Florence is a compelling, witty, tragicomic play that brings to life the idiosyncrasies of the contemporary art world. The one-woman narrative follows the story of an ambitious young woman willing to use any means necessary to secure her success. Even if it means creating an entirely new persona, called Florence.
Seamlessly adopting multiple personas, our protagonist begins to navigate the art world much better as Florence than she could ever have done as herself. Delightfully tongue-in-cheek, we are thrown into a world of high art, high stakes and searing satire.
However, as the play progresses, cracks begin to show that threaten her gallery job, lifestyle and social position. You can put on a mask if you like, but it won’t change what’s under it.
